Fridge and freezer repairs in Malaga
Sam Celesti repairs commercial fridges and freezers across Malaga, about 11 km from the Perth CBD. Behind the loading docks there are freezer rooms, but out the front, where customers shop, Malaga's grocers and wholesale showrooms rely on aisle after aisle of plug-in cabinets: multi-deck display fridges, glass-door upright fridges and freezers, island freezers and chest freezers. Sam has more than 20 years in commercial refrigeration, is ARCtick licensed (AU55592) and quotes a fixed price before any repair.

The shop floor where the fridges are the fixtures
Malaga is known across Perth for its Asian grocers and food wholesalers, and many of them run a retail floor or trade showroom alongside the warehouse. Walk in and the walls are lined with refrigeration: frozen dumplings, buns and seafood in glass-door freezers, tofu, noodles and sauces in upright fridges, drinks in long banks of glass-door coolers, and island freezers down the middle of the aisles.
Some independent grocers and butchers in the suburb work the same way, with display fridges for meat and deli lines and chest freezers for bulk packs. The common thread is scale. A café might have four fridges. A Malaga grocer might have forty, plugged into the same switchboard and standing shoulder to shoulder.

Forty cabinets in one room: why that changes the repair
Each of those cabinets is self-contained, with its own compressor and condenser, and every one of them rejects heat into the shop. Line up dozens and the room itself becomes the problem. The air near the top of the cabinets, where most condensers breathe, can sit far warmer than the thermostat on the wall suggests. Each unit then runs longer, and the ones at the end of a row or tucked into a corner with poor air movement start to fail first.
Scale also hides faults. When one freezer in a run of twenty frosts over or creeps up to minus 12°C, nobody notices until a customer finds soft ice cream. Sam often finds a few problems on a single visit:
- Glass-door freezers with split gaskets, sagging doors or failed door heaters, so the glass fogs and the evaporator ices solid.
- Island and chest freezers with frost built up thick enough to block the lids and starve the coil.
- Upright fridges packed so tightly that stock covers the fan outlet and the return air grille.
- Condenser coils blocked by cardboard dust from unpacking cartons on the shop floor.
- Thermostats and controllers that have drifted, so the cabinet reads fine but the product is not.
Sam works on Skope glass-door fridges, Tecumseh and Danfoss compressors, Carel controllers and Eidis equipment, among other major brands, and can quote for one cabinet or a whole aisle.
If a fridge or freezer fails during trading
Close the doors or lids, put a sign up so customers stop opening it, and move the stock into the nearest cabinet with room, frozen seafood and meat first. Check the plug and the breaker, and note what the controller shows. For chilled lines, FSANZ guidance counts total time between 5°C and 60°C: less than 2 hours and the food can be chilled again, 2 to 4 hours means it should be used right away, and 4 hours or longer means it must be discarded.
The full service is described on our Perth commercial fridge repairs page. Grocers with a lot of cabinets often book preventive maintenance to clean coils and test seals before summer, and emergency refrigeration repairs are available 7 days when a freezer full of stock goes down.
