One person from measure-up to the next descale
Ice-O-Matic is an American ice machine maker. Its compact gourmet units, cube heads and flakers work in bars, cafes, hotels and fish counters around Perth, and the models on these pages are available here through local suppliers. Sam Celesti sources the one you choose, plumbs it in on site and keeps it making clean ice for years afterwards.
Sam has over 20 years in commercial refrigeration and holds ARCtick licence AU55592. He is independent of Ice-O-Matic and every other maker, does the work himself rather than handing it to subcontractors, takes callouts seven days a week and agrees the price of a repair before he begins.
Three categories, 37 listings
The cards above split the range by how the ice is made and where it is kept:
- Self-contained ice machines. 12 units that make and hold ice in a single cabinet. Ten are UCG gourmet machines rated from 20.5 kg to 73 kg a day, alongside the ICEU225 cube machine at 96 kg and the ICF165A undercounter flaker at 80 kg. See self-contained Ice-O-Matic machines.
- Modular heads. 11 heads with no storage of their own: ten CIM cube heads from 132 kg to 776 kg a day and the MFI0805 flake head at 333 kg. Compare them under Ice-O-Matic modular heads.
- Bins and dispensers. Ten storage bins holding 110 kg to 460 kg, plus four CD cube dispensers rated at 55 kg or 81 kg. Browse Ice-O-Matic bins and dispensers.
Every model has its own page on this site with the published figures and feature list. Open "Full specs" on a card to see it.
Matching the machine to the trade
Cafes, small bars and restaurants
A UCG machine slides under a bench and stores its own ice, so there is no separate bin to buy. The two smallest are 387 mm wide and hold 8 kg, while the UCG165A keeps 40 kg in a 532 mm wide cabinet. Gourmet cubes are clear and dense, which suits spirits poured over ice and any drink where the cube should last.
Busy bars, hotels and function venues
When a day's ice runs past the 96 kg the largest self-contained unit lists, a CIM head on its own bin takes over. Each CIM listing offers a full 22 mm cube or a half cube version, so decide which before you order. Because storage is bought separately, you can hold far more ice than the head makes during one shift.
Seafood, produce and food prep
Flake ice moulds around whole fish and trays of produce and chills them fast. The ICF165A makes 80 kg a day under a counter and holds 25 kg. The MFI0805 head is rated for up to 333 kg a day at 21 °C air and 10 °C water.
Ice handed out without a scoop
The CD dispensers let staff or guests take ice at the push of a button, with nobody reaching into a bin. Two of them carry JF in the code and are listed for filling 5 L Willow jugs.
Before you order
- Rated output. Daily figures are measured at set air and water temperatures. A Perth storeroom in February runs hotter than that, so expect less ice on the very days you need most, and step up a size if you are close to the line.
- Water and drain. Each machine needs a cold supply with an isolating tap and a way to get rid of melt water. Four UCG models come as PD versions with a pump out drain, for benches with no floor waste underneath.
- Width and height. CIM heads are 565 mm, 765 to 768 mm or 1,226 mm wide. A bin adds its own height below, and the head needs clearance above for servicing, so measure the ceiling as well as the floor.
- Airflow. The UCG cabinets breathe out through the front, which helps under a counter, but any unit boxed in with nowhere for warm air to go makes less ice and works harder.
- Power. These listings do not publish plug or circuit ratings. Sam reads the spec sheet against your switchboard before the order goes in.
Supply, delivery and installation
Pick a model, or describe your trade and your busiest day, and Sam prices the unit delivered and installed in Perth. On the day he positions and levels it, connects water, drain and filter, seals a modular head to its bin and waits for the first harvests to check the ice. Replacing an old machine? Ask Sam about taking it away. If you have your own plumber, the equipment can travel by courier anywhere in WA instead.
Servicing and repairs after install
Ice counts as food, so a machine needs regular cleaning as well as the odd repair when a part wears. Hard Perth water lays scale on evaporators and in drain lines, and slime grows wherever water sits still. Sam descales, sanitises and fixes Ice-O-Matic equipment whether or not he supplied it, at $75 + GST to attend and $180 + GST an hour plus parts.
