Dispensers, bins and the parts that join them
This page covers 24 Hoshizaki items that work around an ice maker. Three DCM ice and water dispensers make their own ice. Three DB-200H dispensers and four storage bins hold ice made by a separate head. Six top kits join a head to whatever sits underneath it, and eight filter items protect the water supply.
DCM ice and water dispensers
The DCM units are self-contained dispensers, each 350 mm wide and 585 mm deep, that make small cubelet ice and dispense both ice and water. The DCM-60KE-P-HC(HL) and DCM-60KE-P make about 50 kg a day at 695 mm tall, and the DCM-120KE-P-HC(HL) makes about 105 kg a day at 815 mm tall. They suit staff rooms, wards and self-serve drink stations. Storage inside is small, 1.9 kg or 4 kg, so the machine keeps topping itself up: ideal for a steady stream of cups, not for filling a bar's ice wells.
DB-200H dispensers and storage bins
The DB-200H comes in a worksite version, a worksite version with a water button, and a hotel version. Each holds about 90 kg of ice and feeds it out with an auger, but none of them makes ice. A KMD-201, KMD-270 or KM-660MAJ-E crescent head sits on top, joined with a top kit, and both are sold separately. The hotel version suits guest corridors; the worksite versions suit crib rooms. The cabinet is 762 mm wide, 684 mm deep and 1,346 mm high on its legs before the head goes on.
The four storage bins also sit under a modular head and hold 144 kg (B-301 SA), 217 kg (B-501 SA), 348 kg (B-801 SA) or 578 kg (B-1300 SS). Widths run from 559 mm to 1,238 mm. Size the bin by what you scoop out in your busiest stretch, because the head refills it slowly. The heads themselves are on the Hoshizaki cube and crescent ice machines page.
Top kits and water filters
A top kit is the adaptor that seals a head to a bin or dispenser when their footprints differ. There are six, including one for the DB-200H. The filters come as a low capacity HLF10 and a high capacity HLF20 system, gauge versions of both, a twin 450 mm cartridge kit (HLF32) and replacement cartridges. On hard Perth water a filter slows scale on the evaporator, and the gauge shows when a cartridge is clogging.
Before you order
- Heat. The DCM units are rated for rooms from 5 °C to 40 °C and the DB-200H dispensers from 7 °C to 38 °C. Output falls as the room warms: Hoshizaki puts the DCM-120KE-P-HC(HL) at about 125 kg a day in a 10 °C room, 105 kg at 21 °C and 85 kg at 32 °C. Size for summer.
- Power. All six dispensers are listed with a 10 A plug. A head on a bin or DB-200H needs its own outlet.
- Water and drain. Each unit needs a cold water line with an isolating tap and a drain with a steady fall to a floor waste.
- Height. A head adds to the 1,346 mm DB-200H and to bins between 1,016 mm and 1,680 mm tall. Check the ceiling and leave room to lift the cover for cleaning.
Supply, installation and servicing
Sam delivers and places the unit, levels it, fits the head and top kit where there is one, connects water, drain and filter, then watches ice drop and dispense before he leaves. Ask Sam about taking the old unit away. If your own plumber is fitting it, Hoshizaki dispensers, bins and filters can go by courier anywhere in WA. A dispenser needs regular descaling and sanitising like any ice maker. Sam services and repairs Hoshizaki equipment at $75 + GST to attend and $180 + GST an hour plus parts, priced before work starts.
