Fridge and freezer repairs in Joondalup
Sam Celesti covers Joondalup, about 25 km from the Perth CBD, repairing the fridges and freezers that sit out on the shop floor and along the kitchen line: underbench and prep fridges, display cases, glass-door drinks fridges and upright and chest freezers. He is ARCtick licensed (AU55592), has more than 20 years in commercial refrigeration, and gives a fixed quote before starting any job. One company, no subcontractors.
If your problem is a walk-in, our page on cool room repairs in Joondalup covers that, including centre plant decks and long pipe runs.
Food court counters: fridges next to the heat
A food court tenancy at Lakeside Joondalup packs a whole kitchen into a narrow counter. Space is tight, so underbench fridges and freezer drawers go directly under the cooking line, and the sandwich or sushi display sits on the counter a step away from the grill. Those fridges are self-contained: each one has its own compressor and condenser coil, and each one rejects its heat back into the tenancy.
That works until the air around the fridge is hotter than it was designed for. A fridge drawing air from beside a fryer or a char grill pulls in heat and grease together. The grease coats the condenser coil, dust sticks to it, and the fridge has less and less ability to get rid of heat. In a counter where several fridges sit side by side, they also warm each other. The typical result is a prep fridge that holds 4°C at opening and drifts toward 8°C during the lunch peak, or a freezer drawer whose compressor trips on overload in the middle of service.
- Joinery with no air gap. Fridges built tight into cabinetry with no ventilation grille have nowhere to send their heat.
- Grease on the coil. Unlike plain dust, grease does not brush off and needs a proper degrease.
- Hard-working door seals. Drawers and doors opened hundreds of times a day split their gaskets early, and warm air then frosts the evaporator.

City centre cafés and takeaways
Away from the centre, Joondalup's cafés and takeaways run cake and pastry cabinets, milk fridges under the coffee machine and glass-door drinks fridges facing the street. Those cabinets suffer the other common Joondalup problem: stock. A drinks fridge packed tight to the back panel, or a display case piled above its load line, blocks the cold air path, and the shelves furthest from the fan warm up first. Sometimes the repair is a fan motor or a thermostat; sometimes it is showing staff where the load line is.
Edith Cowan University and the health campus bring a steady weekday crowd through these cafés, and a fridge that dies on a busy morning tends to take the whole day's cold food with it.

Sam works on Skope display and drinks fridges, Tecumseh and Danfoss compressors, Carel controllers and Eidis equipment, among other major brands.
What to do in the meantime
Stop opening the faulty fridge and move its contents into another working unit, starting with cooked rice, sushi, meat and dairy. Write down the time you noticed the problem and the temperature showing. FSANZ guidance allows food that has been between 5°C and 60°C for less than 2 hours to go back into a fridge; between 2 and 4 hours it should be used straight away, and at 4 hours or more it should be discarded. If the fridge is built into joinery, do not pull panels off yourself, and do not try to clear ice with a knife.
