Independent repairs, not the Arcus service team
Arcus Australia is a refrigeration supplier based in Malaga, and it runs its own service business for the equipment it sells. Commercial Refrigeration Perth is not Arcus. Sam Celesti has no affiliation with the company and is not its service agent. He is an independent technician who fixes Arcus-branded cabinets and the other makers' units that Perth businesses buy through Arcus.
Owners call Sam once a unit is out of warranty, when they want a second technician to look at a fault, or simply because they would like another local option. If your cabinet is still covered by warranty, contact Arcus or the maker before anyone else opens it up.
Sam has worked in commercial refrigeration for over 20 years and holds ARCtick licence AU55592. He does every job himself, with no subcontractors, and prices the repair before he starts on it.
Arcus-branded units Sam repairs
The Arcus catalogue lists 18 products sold under the Arcus name. They fall into a handful of families, and every one of them is serviceable by a licensed refrigeration technician:
- CU solid door uprights. One, two and three door storage fridges (CU/1, CU/2, CU/3) and the matching freezers (CU/1F, CU/2F, CU/3F).
- AUD glass door uprights. One, two and three door display fridges (AUD/1, AUD/2, AUD/3) and display freezers (AUD/1F, AUD/2F, AUD/3F).
- Vaccine fridges. The 230 litre AUD/1PV and the 400 litre AUD/1SV.
- Mortuary cabinets. Side entry and end entry models.
- Cold food display. The ACFD cold food display.
- Ice dispenser. The 450 kg AFIP450M automatic ice dispenser.

Glass door uprights and counter displays work hard in Perth cafes and delis. The doors open hundreds of times a shift, and the cabinet often sits near an espresso machine or an oven. When a display like this starts to drift above 5°C, the cause is usually something Sam can find and fix on the first visit.
Other makers' equipment bought through Arcus
Most of what Arcus sells is built by other companies. Sam repairs those units just the same, whoever supplied them:
- Ice machines and bins. Scotsman, Ice-O-Matic, Follett and ITV cube, nugget and flake machines, storage bins and dispensers. See Scotsman ice machine repairs and Ice-O-Matic ice machine repairs.
- Blast chillers. Friginox cabinet and roll-in blast chillers and freezers.
- Supermarket cases. Kaplanlar multidecks, deli counters and islands, and the Hussmann island freezer.
- Food displays. Woodson and Cossiga refrigerated food displays.
- Medical. Nuline vaccine fridges.
- Fridges and freezers. Arcus also stocks SKOPE, Bromic and Williams. Read about SKOPE fridge repairs, Bromic fridge repairs and Williams fridge repairs.

What usually goes wrong with an upright
A solid or glass door upright has the same working parts whatever name is on the front: a compressor and condenser, an evaporator and fan inside the cabinet, a controller with a temperature probe, door gaskets and, on glass door models, door heaters to stop fogging. Faults nearly always come from one of those parts.

Signs worth a call, and what Sam checks first:
- Cabinet running warm with the fan going. Condenser coil blocked with dust, a failed condenser fan, a start relay that has given out, or a slow refrigerant leak.
- Ice building on the back wall of a freezer. Defrost heater, defrost probe or controller fault, or a gasket letting humid air in.
- Fogged or dripping glass doors. A door heater circuit out, or a door that no longer closes against its seal.
- Display reading looks wrong. A damaged probe or a controller that has lost its settings. Check it against a separate thermometer before you move stock.
- Water on the floor. A blocked drain or an overflowing evaporator tray.

Vaccine fridges and mortuary cabinets

Medical refrigeration carries higher stakes than a drinks fridge. Vaccines must stay between 2°C and 8°C, so a fault is a cold chain breach. Your own breach procedure comes first, then the repair. Sam checks the probe, controller, fan and refrigeration circuit, and runs the cabinet back down into range before he leaves so your logger shows a clean recovery.
Mortuary cabinets are treated as urgent and handled with discretion. Tell us on the first call where the cabinet is and who will meet Sam on site.
How the repair is priced
The call-out is $75 plus GST, and labour is $180 an hour plus GST, plus parts. Sam diagnoses the fault, explains it in plain terms and gives you a fixed price. You decide whether to go ahead. If an older cabinet is not worth the money, he says so and sets out the replacement cost beside the repair.
Keeping Arcus equipment running
Cleaning the condenser, checking gaskets and confirming the controller reads true will head off many of the faults above. For sites with several cabinets or an ice machine, planned refrigeration maintenance puts those checks on a schedule, so a failing fan or a slow leak is found on a booked visit rather than during Saturday service.
