Match the fridge to the counter

SKOPE's 84 display fridges do four jobs: tall glass door uprights for drinks, low fridges behind a bar, open decks for grab and go, and compact coolers. Pick the job first, then the size.

ActiveCore and EziCore uprights

The 36 ActiveCore glass door uprights run from the BME300N, a 277 L single door only 590 mm wide, up to 1,399 L three-door cabinets, and every one is listed at 1 °C to 4 °C. Top mount models stand 2,200 mm to 2,210 mm tall, so check the ceiling. Seventeen are lit sign versions with an illuminated header for branding. The four EziCore uprights are a simpler choice in one and two door sizes, 558 L to 1,030 L, holding 0 °C to 5 °C.

BackBar, Ascend and glass chillers for bars

Behind a bar, height and depth matter most. The BackBar family has 27 two, three and four door fridges in three body styles: BackBar at 1,025 mm tall, and CounterLine and SlimLine at 830 mm, with SlimLine the shallowest at 590 mm to 600 mm deep. Each style comes with glass swing, glass sliding or solid swing doors, and capacities run from 290 L to 860 L. Two glass chillers, 152 L and 290 L, keep glassware cold. The Ascend bar coolers add one, two and three door options at 825 mm tall and 103 L to 251 L, and the HB85 is the smallest of all at 83 L.

OpenDeck and SpeedLane for grab and go

The seven OpenDeck models, 273 L to 1,071 L, have no doors at all. The four SpeedLane models are all 900 mm wide and hold 267 L to 299 L behind two or four smaller doors that swing or slide.

What the doors cost to run

The OD300N OpenDeck holds 273 L and is listed at 6.68 kWh a day, while the BME300N glass door upright holds 277 L and is listed at 1.49 kWh. On the BackBar range, sliding glass doors use about twice as much as swing doors on the same body: the four-door BB.4.GSL is listed at 8.17 kWh a day against 4.48 kWh for the BB.4.GSW. Compare the figures before you commit.

Before you order

  • The way in. Measure doorways, corridors and any stairs as well as the final spot. A three-door ActiveCore is 1,640 mm to 1,705 mm wide and at least 2,005 mm tall.
  • Heat and airflow. Keep it away from coffee machines, ovens and afternoon sun through a west facing shopfront, and leave the clearances SKOPE asks for.
  • Food safety. FSANZ requires chilled food at 5 °C or below, and 65 of the 84 models are listed at 1 °C to 4 °C, leaving a margin for busy periods.

Supply, installation and looking after it

Sam quotes the fridge together with delivery and installation anywhere in Perth. On the day he brings it in, sets it level so the doors close and seal properly, checks the clearances and the power, then runs it down and confirms it is holding temperature before he leaves. If an old fridge has to go, ask Sam when you get the quote. If you only need the unit, SKOPE display fridges can also be sent by courier.

A dirty condenser is the usual reason a drinks fridge struggles in a Perth summer. Sam services and repairs SKOPE display fridges for $75 + GST to attend and $180 + GST an hour plus parts, and agrees the repair price with you before he starts. Frequently asked questions

Can a SKOPE glass door fridge be used for back of house storage?

Yes. SKOPE lists its ActiveCore glass door uprights as display or storage fridges, so one can work in a storeroom as well as on the shop floor. If nobody needs to see the stock, a solid door storage fridge keeps the clutter out of sight and the light off the product. Sam can compare the two options for your space.

What is the difference between top mount and bottom mount?

It is where the refrigeration system sits. Bottom mount cabinets carry it under the lowest shelf, and top mount cabinets carry it above the doors, which makes the SKOPE top mount uprights 2,200 mm to 2,210 mm tall. Top mount keeps the condenser away from floor dust and mop water, while bottom mount keeps it within easy reach for cleaning. Ceiling height often decides it.

Which SKOPE back bar fridge suits my bar?

Measure under the bar top first. BackBar models are 1,025 mm tall, while CounterLine and SlimLine are 830 mm. SlimLine is the shallowest, at 590 mm to 600 mm deep, for narrow bars. Glass doors show off the stock, solid doors keep it out of sight, and sliding doors suit tight walkways where a swinging door would block staff.

Are open deck fridges expensive to run?

They use more power than a fridge with doors, because cold air spills out of the open front all day. SKOPE lists its seven OpenDeck models at 6.68 kWh to 18.34 kWh a day. A glass door upright of similar size can use a quarter of that or less. Keeping the deck out of draughts from doorways and air conditioning vents helps it hold temperature.

Can you send a SKOPE display fridge without installing it?

Yes. If you have your own electrician or simply need the unit, Sam can send SKOPE display fridges by courier. Installation is still worth weighing up, because careful placement, levelling and a proper pull down to temperature on day one prevent many of the faults that show up later.

Do you repair SKOPE display fridges you did not supply?

Yes. Sam services and repairs SKOPE refrigeration wherever it was bought. A visit is $75 + GST to attend and $180 + GST an hour plus parts, and you get a fixed price for the repair once he has found the fault. Common problems include iced evaporators, failed fans, worn door seals and dirty condensers.
