ITV ice machines, supplied through SKOPE
These machines are made by ITV, a Spanish ice machine maker, and SKOPE distributes them in Australia. The range on this page has 38 listings: 17 self-contained machines, 12 modular heads and 9 SILO storage bins. Start with your busiest day's ice use, the space you have and where the water can drain.
Self-contained machines
A self-contained machine makes and holds ice in one cabinet. All 17 run on R290, a natural refrigerant. The ALFA NDP20 is the smallest at 350 mm wide and 593 mm tall, small enough to sit under a counter. Six GALA models make ice cubes, from the compact 405 mm wide NG30 up to the NG150. Eight SPIKA models come in half dice or full dice versions, and the ICE QUEEN IQ50 and IQ85 make granular ice. Fourteen of the 17 carry DP in the code, meaning a built-in drain pump.
Modular heads
A modular head only makes ice and sits on a separate bin. There are 12: the GALA MDP150 and MR400 cube heads, SPIKA MS220, MS300 and MS410 heads in half dice or full dice, and four ICE QUEEN granular heads (IQ230, IQ450, IQ650 and IQ1100). The SPIKA MS300 is the slim option at 559 mm wide.
SILO bins
Six SILO bins run from the 740 mm tall S130 to the 1,321 mm wide S500, including the S160, a slim 559 mm wide bin. Three larger SILO units (SCS300, SCD400 and SCD800) combine storage with a transport system for venues moving ice in bulk, and stand up to 2,084 mm tall. Check with Sam that the head and bin you like are listed to go together.
Which ice suits your business
Half dice cubes are small, so they fill a glass quickly and suit soft drinks and fast bar service. Full dice cubes are larger and melt more slowly in spirits and cocktails. Granular ice is soft and small grained, good for packing seafood and salads on display, blended drinks. For the GALA cube machines, ask Sam about cube size and shape against what you serve.
Before install day
- Water. A cold water line with an isolating tap close to the machine. Perth water is hard, so budget for a filter to slow scale build-up.
- Drain. Without a pump, melt water must fall by gravity to a drain below the machine. The DP models pump it up and away, which helps where the nearest floor waste is across the room.
- Heat. Ice output drops as the room and the incoming water get warmer. Ask Sam for the output figure at summer conditions, and keep the machine out of a hot, airless storeroom.
- Power. Ask Sam what supply your chosen model needs, so an electrician can add an outlet before delivery if required.
- Space. Measure the gap and the route in, and leave room for air and service access.
Installation by Sam
Sam places and levels the machine, connects water, drain and power, fits the filter if you have one and runs the first cycles to make sure ice is dropping into the bin before he leaves. Modular heads are mounted and sealed to their bin on site. Ask Sam if you want the old machine taken away. If you already have a plumber lined up, the equipment can be sent by courier instead.
Cleaning, servicing and repairs
An ice machine needs regular descaling and sanitising, more often on hard water. Sam looks after ITV machines for slow production, cloudy or small cubes, leaks and pumps that stop clearing water. His call-out is $75 + GST and labour $180 + GST an hour plus parts, with a fixed repair price agreed first.
