ProSpec

ReFlex

Three ranges for back of house

SKOPE's 51 storage fridges come from three ranges. ActiveCore covers solid door uprights, ProSpec is built around gastronorm pan sizes for commercial kitchens, and ReFlex covers uprights and underbench units in a wide spread of sizes. Fifty of them are listed at 1 °C to 4 °C. The one exception is the ProSpec roll-in, which still shows its capacity and energy figures as TBC.

ActiveCore solid door uprights

Eight uprights in one, two and three door widths, from 558 L to 1,399 L. The bottom mount versions are 2,005 mm tall and the top mount versions 2,200 mm.

ProSpec for gastronorm kitchens

ProSpec has 29 storage fridges. The GN 1/1 underbench models run from 835 mm wide and 126 L to 2,210 mm wide and 609 L, all 850 mm tall, with solid doors or banks of two to nine drawers. For larger pans there are GN 2/1 underbench units of 521 L and 800 L, GN 2/1 uprights of 572 L and 1,266 L, and a GN 2/1 roll-in for trolleys. Two ChefBase drawer units, only 610 mm tall, are made to sit under a grill or griddle so cold product is right below where it gets cooked. Twelve ProSpec listings are right hand versions, for kitchens where the standard layout would end up on the wrong side.

ReFlex uprights and underbench

ReFlex has 14 models. The narrowest is the RF6.UBR.1.SD at 600 mm wide and 139 L. GN 1/1 compatible underbench units run from 248 L to 526 L with solid doors, glass doors or six and nine drawers, and a 1,500 mm two door model fills the gap between the 1,290 mm and 1,750 mm widths. The uprights come in two families: RF7 at 469 L and 921 L, and RF8 at 562 L and 1,242 L, which takes GN 2/1 pans.

Drawers or doors

Drawers bring stock up to the cook instead of making them crouch into a cabinet, which matters on a busy line. They cost a little more to run. The two-bay ProSpec underbench is listed at 1.64 kWh a day with solid doors, 1.79 kWh with four drawers and 2.10 kWh with six, for the same 288 L. Doors suit bulk stock and tall tubs.

Before you order

  • Bench clearance. The underbench models are 850 mm tall. Measure under your bench top and check the exact height for castors or legs on the full spec page.
  • Pan sizes. A GN 1/1 pan is 530 × 325 mm and a GN 2/1 pan is 650 × 530 mm. If you already own pans and trays, choose the fridge that fits them.
  • Kitchen heat. An underbench fridge beside a fryer or combi oven works far harder, and Perth kitchens can pass 40 °C in summer.
  • Power and the route in. Check the plug against your outlets, and make sure a 2,435 mm GN 2/1 underbench or a 1,705 mm wide upright can actually get through the back door.

Supply, install and ongoing service

Sam prices the fridge with delivery and installation across Perth. He positions it, levels it so doors and drawers close square, checks clearances and power, and waits until it has pulled down to temperature before he leaves. If the old unit needs removing, ask Sam about it with your quote. SKOPE storage fridges can also go by courier if you have your own installer.

Kitchen grease and flour clog condensers and wear seals and drawer runners. Sam services and repairs SKOPE storage fridges at a $75 + GST call-out and $180 + GST an hour plus parts, with a fixed repair price agreed first. Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between ProSpec and ReFlex?

Both are SKOPE kitchen ranges. ProSpec is built around gastronorm pan sizes and offers more layouts, including right hand versions, ChefBase units and a GN 2/1 roll-in. ReFlex covers similar uprights and underbench sizes, adds glass door underbench options and a narrow 600 mm model. Compare the capacities and widths on this page, then ask Sam which suits your kitchen.

Will a SKOPE underbench fridge fit under my bench?

The SKOPE underbench storage fridges are listed at 850 mm tall, and many commercial bench tops sit higher than that, but measure yours rather than assume. Allow for castors or legs, and leave a gap for air to move. ChefBase units are only 610 mm tall because they are designed to carry cooking equipment on top.

What do GN 1/1 and GN 2/1 mean?

They are gastronorm sizes, a standard for commercial kitchen pans and trays. A GN 1/1 pan measures 530 × 325 mm and a GN 2/1 pan 650 × 530 mm. A fridge built for a size takes those pans directly on its runners, so stock can move from fridge to bench to oven without decanting.

Are drawer fridges worth the extra running cost?

On a busy cooking line, usually. Drawers put stock at hand without bending into a cabinet, which saves time every service. SKOPE's figures show only a small energy difference: the two-bay ProSpec uses 1.64 kWh a day with doors and 1.79 kWh with four drawers. For bulk storage or tall containers, doors are the better fit.

Can you get a large fridge into a tight kitchen?

Usually, with some planning. Sam checks the route from the street to the final spot before you order, including doorways, corners and steps. If a unit will not fit through, he will tell you before it is delivered and suggest a narrower model or a different layout from the SKOPE range.

How much does it cost to service a SKOPE storage fridge?

Servicing and repairs are charged at $75 + GST for the call-out and $180 + GST an hour plus parts. For repairs, Sam finds the fault and gives you a fixed price before he starts. Regular servicing keeps condenser coils clean and picks up worn seals and noisy fans before they cause a breakdown.
