Full height or semi vertical: matching the multideck to the shop
Bromic's 18 multidecks come in two heights. The eight full height models stand 2,090 mm tall and 915 mm deep, carry five shelf levels and hold from 611 L (1,018 mm wide) to 1,629 L (2,580 mm wide). They suit supermarkets and grocers that want a long wall of dairy and drinks. The ten semi vertical models are 1,586 mm tall, low enough for customers to see over, and hold 332 L to 885 L. They suit end displays, smaller stores and cafes.
The second choice is open front or doors. Four full height models are open, with an air curtain holding the cold in, so shoppers reach in without a door in the way. The other four full height models and all ten semi vertical models have glass doors. On the semi verticals you can pick hinged or sliding: a sliding door suits a narrow aisle where a swinging door would block trolleys, while hinged doors give full access across the shelf for restocking.
Doors make the biggest difference to running costs
The open 1,250 mm full height multideck uses 16.9 kWh a day and carries a 4 star GEMS rating. The same width with doors uses 3.3 kWh a day and is rated 10 stars. Across the four open models, daily use runs from 10.77 to 29.86 kWh, against 3.18 to 9.5 kWh for their door versions. On a cabinet that never switches off, that gap appears on every power bill. Open fronts still suit a fast lunchtime trade.
What to check before you order
Room temperature
Every multideck in this range is rated for a room of 25 degrees C (climate class 3M1). Air conditioning on the shop floor is therefore a requirement, not an extra. A cabinet in a shopfront that takes the afternoon sun, or beside an entrance that lets in 40 degree air through a Perth summer, will run flat out and struggle to hold its set point. Remember too that chilled food has to stay at 5 degrees C or below under the FSANZ rules.
Weight, access and floor space
These are heavy units, from 165 kg for the smallest semi vertical up to 600 kg for the 2,500 mm full height. Measure doorways and the route in, and allow a clear aisle in front. Hinged door models also need room for the doors to open, which the spec sheets list at 417 mm to 691 mm depending on the model.
Power
All 18 models run on single phase power through a standard 10 A plug and draw between 1.12 A and 9.2 A. The large open models draw enough that each one should have its own outlet rather than a power board, and Sam checks the circuit can carry the load when he quotes. Every model uses R290, a natural refrigerant with a very low global warming potential.
Supply, installation and commissioning
Sam quotes the multideck with delivery and placement anywhere in Perth. On the day he rolls the unit into position on its castors, levels it so the doors close and the air curtain on full height models falls evenly and sets the controller. He stays until the cabinet is down to temperature and holding. Ask Sam about removing an old multideck when you request a quote. Units can also be sent by courier.
Servicing after the install
Open fronts draw in warm, moist shop air all day, so the evaporator and drain need attention, and the condenser collects dust from the shop floor. A scheduled service through our refrigeration maintenance plans keeps coils clean and catches tired fans before they fail. If a cabinet stops holding temperature, see commercial fridge repairs for call-out details, or go back to the Bromic refrigeration page for the rest of the range.
