Which Bromic upright suits your business
Glass door display fridges make up 18 of the 29 uprights on this page, and they are the ones to choose when customers help themselves to drinks and packaged food. The single door GM models start at 215 L in a cabinet 595 mm wide, small enough to sit beside a cafe counter. Two door units between 885 L and 1,126 L, all 1,200 mm wide, suit delis, takeaways and service stations, and the three door model holds 1,980 L for a full drinks wall. Where people queue in front of the fridge, look at the GM0980LS: it is the only upright in the range with sliding doors, so an open door never blocks the aisle.
Solid door uprights belong in the kitchen and the storeroom. There is a 372 L fridge and a 300 L freezer in white, and stainless steel fridges and freezers at 650 L and 1,300 L that wipe down easily in a food prep area. For frozen stock on show, the five glass door display freezers run from 300 L to 1,980 L and hold between -18°C and -22°C.
What to check before you order
How hot the room gets
All six solid door uprights are climate class 4, which means they were tested in a 30°C room. The 23 glass door models are class 3, tested at 25°C. Bromic also lists a maximum room temperature for each model, and on this page it runs from 25°C for the two GM0900 ECO fridges up to 43°C for six of the display fridges. A storeroom without air conditioning in a Perth February needs a model from the top of that list.
Daily energy use
Star ratings help, but the kWh a day figure tells you what you will pay. The 1,126 L two door display fridge uses 3.54 kWh a day, while the smaller 885 L ECO model uses 11.79 kWh. Freezers cost far more to run: the three door display freezer is listed at 30.71 kWh a day, so only buy that much frozen display if the sales justify it.
Power, access and door swing
All but one of these uprights come with a standard 10 A plug. The exception is the 1,980 L three door display freezer, which needs a 15 A outlet, so have the circuit checked before delivery. The tallest cabinet stands 2,185 mm high and the heaviest weighs 374 kg, so measure every doorway and corner on the way in. The stainless steel solid door models need 830 mm clear in front for the door to swing open.
Supply and installation in Perth
Sam prices the unit together with delivery and installation, and plans the route in before the day so a heavy cabinet is not left stuck at the back door. Once it is in position he levels it so the self-closing doors shut and seal, confirms there is room above and behind for heat to escape, and checks the power point. He then runs the fridge or freezer down and checks the temperature before he leaves; food fridges should hold 5°C or below under the FSANZ food safety standard. Ask Sam if you also want the old unit taken away. If you only need the unit and not the install, it can go by courier instead.
Keeping it running after install
Uprights in a busy shop have their doors opened all day, so seals, hinges and evaporator fans take the wear, and a dusty condenser makes the compressor work much harder through summer. Sam services and repairs Bromic uprights even if you bought them elsewhere. A call-out is $75 + GST and labour is $180 an hour + GST plus parts, and he gives you a fixed price before starting any repair.
